Why do you stand far off, Yahweh?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

In pride, the wicked hotly pursue the poor.
Let them be caught in the plotting that they have devised.

For the wicked boasts of his soul’s desire.
He covets the greedy, and condemns Yahweh.

The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, says, "God won't require it."
All his thoughts are, "There is no God."

His ways are prosperous at all times.
Your judgments are far above out of his sight.
As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them.

He says in his heart, "I shall not be shaken.
For generations I shall not be in adversity."

His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression.
Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.

He sits in the lurking places of the villages.
In the secret places he murders the innocent.
His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless.

He lurks in secret as a lion in his covert.
He lies in wait to catch the helpless.
He catches the helpless, when he draws him in his net.

He crouches. He bows down.
The helpless fall by his strong ones.

He says in his heart, "God has forgotten.
He hides his face. He will never see it."

Arise, Yahweh! God, lift up your hand!
Don't forget the helpless.

Why does the wicked condemn God,
and say in his heart, "God won't require it?"

You have seen it, for you behold mischief and spite, to take it into your hand.
The helpless commits himself to you.
You have been the helper of the fatherless.

Break the arm of the wicked.
As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.

Yahweh is King forever and ever!
The nations have perished out of his land.

Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble.
You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,

To judge the fatherless and the oppressed,
that man who is of the earth may no longer strike terror.
